On 20 June, we celebrate the World Refugee Day. This day reminds us of the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. The World Refugee Day is important for POLIN Museum as our daily work is focused on buidling mutual understanding and respect.

On Sunday, 19 June, we invite people with a refugee background to join a guided tour of our exhibition "What’s Cooking? Jewish Culinary Culture" which will be conducted in English.

The temporary exhibition takes us on a journey across time and space. We present the diversity of traditions and dishes consumed by Jews residing in the diaspora over the centuries. We demonstrate how certain dishes and products became widespread as a result of numerous migrations, from the Middle Ages to the great waves of migration in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The exhibition is a good starting point to talk about identities: where we hail from, who our ancestors were, who our neighbours are and what lifestyle we lead.

Agnieszka Kuś will be your guide – culinary heritage interpreter, food guide, educator and vlogger, who searches for tasty stories from the history of Poland and shares them with her audience. Her Internet films, radio interviews and text are accessible via blog Patrzę i Jem.
