Annual Meeting of the Polish Committee for the Support of the Museum
The annual meeting of the members of the Polish Committee for the Support of the Museum was held on July 22nd and chaired by Marcin Święcicki. Among attendees were representatives of the Museum, Association of the Jewish Historical Institute officials and Deputy Culture Minister Małgorzata Omilanowska.
Andrzej Cudak, the acting director of the Museum, listed the key actions being taken for the Museum to be opened, such as working out a programming strategy, changing the logo, research among potential visitors and moving to the new building. The director summarized the events that have been held so far since April 19th. Alicja Knast of the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute, director general of the Main Exhibition, briefed other committee members on the progress of work on the exhibition: the completion of the exhibition space, work on multimedia presentations, processing of photographs or scans, and preparing prototypes of the elements of the set design.
Members of the committee expressed appreciation for the Museum’s involvement in the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising, and praised the educational and cultural programme of the first three months of the Museum’s activity. Among the topics of discussion was the training programme for guides and educators and the plans for developing the Museum’s digital resources. The committee analyzed the factors at play in establishing the date and character of next year’s official opening of the Museum with its Main Exhibition.
The Polish Committee for the Support of the Museum comprises renowned individuals from the world of culture and science, politicians, diplomats and business people. The committee is chaired by Marcin Święcicki.
