This performance is the outcome of workshops conducted by artists from the Sztuka Nowa Association for students of the Teatr Baza (physical theatre workshops) and a group of students from the Warsaw University of the Third Age (history and journalism workshops). The script was written based on the accounts of Marek Edelman (“The Ghetto Fights”, 1945; “Shielding the Flame”, 1977; “And there was Love in the Ghetto”, 2009), as well as recordings of interviews with survivors from the Children of the Holocaust Association. The performance combines elements of physical theatre and video art, posing a series of crucial questions about memory and the Ghetto Uprising. How do witnesses remember the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising? How has this memory changed over time? How is it fostered? How can one speak of events that seem unimaginable?

Written and directed by Karolina Dziełak, Dawid Żakowski (Sztuka Nowa Association); performed by Teatr Baza and seniors from the Shalom Foundation University of the Third Age.
