Jewish Records Indexing – Poland
Jewish Records Indexing – Poland is an independent, non-governmental organization founded in 1995. JRI–Poland’s major project is the indexing of Jewish vital records preserved in Polish State Archives. Vital records, i.e. documents recording births, marriages, and deaths, are the basic documentation used in genealogical research.
The JRI–Poland database includes information on more than 5 million records for more than 550 Polish towns. It is currently the largest database of its type, with new recordscontinually added. JRI–Poland is an essential tool for genealogists and has received (in 2014) the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Jewish Genealogy via the Internet from the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies.
