The Museum in Canada
On Saturday, November 9 during the closing ceremony of the Neuberger Holocaust Education Week taking place in Toronto, Prof. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, Program Director of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews Core Exhibition, delivered a lecture on the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. During the ceremony, attended by over 800 people, she presented the Museum’s mission and vision, giving an overview of the Museum’s Core Exhibition which is currently in the process of being produced and installed.
Until now, it was only possible to honor those who died by remembering how they died… But now there is another way to honor those who died… by how they lived, Prof. Kirshenblatt-Gimblett told the audience. People who never thought of coming to Poland and who were even dead set against even considering such an idea, are now ready to come and that alone will begin the process of transformation to which we are so deeply committed, she said after the lecture. Mary Siklos, one of the organizers of the Holocaust Education Week, on the other hand wrote: It was indeed a fantastic program and I’d like to personally thank [all those] who were involved, for the initiative to bring Barbara to Toronto, as our Keynote speaker. She spoke from the heart and she was very informative at the same time.
Toronto is home to the Canadian Association of Warsaw's Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
