On July 17, the Museum Friends Club met yet again, this time to view the “Letters to Afar” temporary exhibition by Péter Forgács. The Friends had a unique opportunity to see the exhibition after hours in an intimate atmosphere.

The presence of Tamara Sztyma-Knasiecka, the curator of the exhibition, who told of what it was like to work with Péter Forgács and The Klezmatics, the authors of the music, was an additional attraction. The conversation turned to the idea for the exhibition and the archival material used in it, as well as the Museum’s partnership with the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York.

Watching the projections, the Friends discussed the exhibition as well as Jewish life in interwar Poland. They repeatedly emphasized that being able to take part in monthly events organized within the framework of the Friends Club enabled them to get involved in a closer relationship with the Museum staff and to see how this new, modern institution of culture operated “behind the scenes.”
