Materials from the Conference "November Hopes. Jews and the Independence of Poland in 1918"

The publication within "East European Jewish Affairs," Volume 52, Issue 1 (2022) contains papers presented at the 2018 conference "November Hopes. Jews and the Independence of Poland in 1918" organized by the POLIN Museum in partnership with the Institute of History at the University of Warsaw.
They focus on areas that seem crucial to understanding the situation of Jewish communities in Polish lands at the end of World War I. They speak both about the attitude of the Polish majority towards the Jews – about the myths of the Jewish-Communism and anti-Jewish violence, and about the situation within the Jewish communities, about the social and political problems and tensions that existed there.
