GEOP Doctoral Seminar
Between 2015 and 2023, POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, in collaboration with partner institutions, organized the GEOP Doctoral Seminar dedicated to the history and culture of Polish Jewry. This initiative served as a platform for intellectual exchange and collaborative engagement between emerging scholars and leading academics specializing in various dimensions of Polish-Jewish studies.
Each edition of the seminar spanned an academic year, with monthly meetings convened throughout the term. Doctoral candidates were invited to present the conceptual framework of their dissertations to seminar participants, thereby receiving substantive feedback and scholarly support from distinguished experts in the field of Polish-Jewish history and culture.
The seminar’s Scientific Council, along with specially invited commentators, comprised historians, literary scholars, anthropologists, art historians, sociologists, museologists, and linguists from both Poland and abroad. Their interdisciplinary perspectives enriched the academic discourse and contributed to the development of participants' research projects.
Alumni of the seminar—doctoral candidates at the time—are currently affiliated with academic institutions in Poland and internationally. Many continue their scholarly pursuits through postdoctoral fellowships.
