Youth from Poland and Germany in concert together at POLIN Museum

Music by Purcell, Bach, Telemann, Moniuszko, Saint-Saens, and other great masters will be heard on 19 July, 2023 in the main hall of POLIN Museum. Celebrating 50 years of artistic work this year, the German-Polish Youth Orchestra (Deutsch-Polnisches Jugendorchester or DPJO) will be performing at POLIN for its jubilee concert tour. The young musicians from Poland and Germany will visit the Core Exhibition the Museum, and then perform for the public.

The orchestra was founded by employees of the Musikschule in Frankfurt, Germnay, and the Music School in Zielona Góra, Poland. The Orchestra consists of young people from Music Schools in Frankfurt am Oder and Zielona Góra. It is the oldest cultural initiative of this type on the Polish-German border.

The Orchestra's conductors are: Hannes Metze-Stuyven from the Musikschule Frankfurt, and from the Institute of Music of the University of Zielona Góra: Prof. Maciej Ogarek and Prof. Bartłomiej Stankowiak.
The orchestra has performed successfully on both sides of the Polish-German border since 2007. In addition, the organization has been responsible for the "Polish-German Days" concert at the University of Zielona Góra every year.

The Orchestra's first major concert took place in 1980 during the UNESCO conference in Warsaw. 
This year, on the occasion of the Jubilee, the Orchestra played on 14 June, 2023 in Frankfurt (Oder), in the Marienkirche Concert Hall, and on 15 June, 2023 in Zielona Góra at the Lubuski Theater on the occasion of the "Polish-German Media Days."

From 14-16 July, 2023, the Orchestra will participate in the Festival of Music School Orchestras of Brandenburg in Schwedt, Germany. The concert at POLIN Museum will be the culmination of the jubilee celebrations.
