TISH Festival: A Kasha and Pasta Side Dish - Jeffrey Yoskowitz introduces kasha varnishkes – an online event

fot. Lauren Volo

You hear ”Jewish cuisine” and you think hummus, gefilte fish and tzimmes. What about "kasha varnishkes" though, one of the most popular dishes in the Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine?

No wonder you are not familiar with it - the dish was first created in the United States, in the community of Jewish immigrants from East and Central Europe. It was inspired by Ukrainian "varenikes", the equivalent of Polish "pierogi". Jeffrey Yoskowitz from the Gefilteria collective will show us how to mix kasha and pasta in order to prepare a simple but yummy meal.

Online premiere of the recorded workshop, held in English with Polish subtitles.
