On November 12, 2013, at 6 p.m. join us for the second meeting in the cycle of lectures on the Core Exhibition of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

Professor Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett (New York University), Program Director and Chief Curator of the Core Exhibition, will give a lecture entitled Polin: Legends of Arrival

Professor Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett will present the concept of the “Forest” gallery, an entrance experience to the 1000 year history of Polish Jews that follows. “Forest” is a space of historical imagination in which visitors can hear the legends that Jews told themselves about how they came to Poland, why they stayed, and how Poland got its name.

As part of the presentation three legends will be read – the Polin legend, the story of Esther and King Kazimierz the Great, and legends of arrival and welcome.
