From Josiek to Jasiek – On the interpenetration of first and last names in Polish and Jewish culture

In the course of our workshop will find out how Polish traditions of giving first and last names filtered through to the culture of Jews living in Poland and vice versa.

Together we will learn about the most popular traditions according to which Jewish names were formed and given in Poland. The workshop will be conducted by Jakub Kosiorek from the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
