Film shown as part of the film cycle “Polish-Jewish Identity of Prewar Filmmakers”. The series will feature the profiles and achievements of two great stars of prewar Polish cinematography: Józef Lejtes and Michał Waszyński. Their Jewish roots had an enormous impact on their work. Lejtes never denied them, but rarely signed his work because of prewar anti-Semitism. Waszyński concealed his Jewish identity all his life. This did not prevent him from filming “The Dybbuk” – the greatest masterpiece of Jewish cinematography. The lives of these two directors reveal the challenges encountered by Jews who wanted to pursue a career in prewar show business.

Tickets – 5 PLN.
