Cooperation between ORLEN and POLIN Museum continues
Over 12,000 students participated in free educational workshops, nearly 400,000 people visited the Museum, and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Campaign acquired a new dimension—these are just a few examples of the outcome of the first year of partnership between POLIN Museum and ORLEN. The partners continue to pursue their joint mission, which will include further development of educational programs, pro-ecological initiatives, and expanding the Museum’s collection.
A very successful year
Over the past twelve months, thanks to the support of ORLEN—POLIN Museum’s first Patron—we organized over 500 free educational workshops for children and youth. More than 12,000 students from all over Poland participated in the workshops. The first year of the cooperation also saw record attendance—nearly 400,000 people visited our Museum.
"Education of children and youth is an investment in a better future—that is why it is so important for cultural institutions and businesses to work together for the benefit of younger generations,"
says Zygmunt Stępiński, POLIN Museum Director.
ORLEN served as the Strategic Sponsor of the social-educational Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Campaign which commemorates the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. For the first time in the Campaign’s history, paper daffodils were made available at selected petrol stations in Warsaw, giving the initiative a new social dimension.
"For ORLEN, patronage of POLIN Museum is not only support for an important cultural institution, but also an investment in the education and future of younger generations. We want our activities to have a positive and lasting impact on the society,"
says Lidia Kołucka, Executive Director of Sponsorship at ORLEN.
Engagement in ecology and sustainable development was an important aspect of our partnership, too. With ORLEN’s support, the Museum carried out a carbon footprint assessment and developed a decarbonization strategy.
Plans for the coming months
The continuation of partnership with ORLEN will focus on several key areas. We will expand our educational programs and increase the number of workshops for students from all over Poland. The ‘Daffodils’ Campaign — commemoration of the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising—will continue, enhanced with new elements to reach an even wider audience.
In the area of ecology, we will begin implementing the decarbonization strategy and solutions to reduce the Museum’s environmental impact. Development of the POLIN collection and exhibition offer will remain a priority, too, including the acquisition of new works of art. Later this year, we plan to enrich our collection with five artworks by Marek Włodarski (Henryk Streng).
Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to pursue our mission even more effectively— recalling the memory while fostering a modern approach to education, culture, and social responsibility.
In the coming months, we will invite you to a series of exciting events. The exhibition "Voice(s) of Alina Szapocznikow" has been on display since September 18. It features two outstanding works—"Vowel" and "Consonant"—by one of Poland’s most distinguished artists of international acclaim. On October 28, the POLIN Award winner was announced during a formal gala marking the 11th edition of the POLIN Award competition. From November 21, "The Power of Words: On Jewish Languages" temporary exhibition will showcase dozens of original artifacts related to the successive chapters of the long history of Jewish languages.
Thanks to POLIN Museum’s partnership with ORLEN, we will be able to pursue our mission even more effectively—recalling the memory while fostering a modern approach to education, culture, and social responsibility.
