"The Board of FPHJP knew years ago that we would find a way to contribute to POLIN and the POLIN experience. From our very first visit to POLIN during its construction, to our most recent visit this year, we have been overwhelmed by POLIN Museum, its exhibited artifacts and corresponding advanced presentation – and especially by its dedicated staff of professionals. The "wooden synagogue" exhibited at POLIN is of special importance to our Foundation as several of our Board members trace their ancestry to Gwoździec and therefore to its synagogue, now reconstructed as an exhibit within the POLIN Museum. We are excited to continue to support POLIN and its extraordinarily bright future." – Steven Greenberg, President of the Foundation
The Foundation for the Preservation of the History of the Jewish People in the Pale of Settlement is a non-profit foundation organized for the purpose of funding efforts to preserve the memory of the Jewish people of the Pale of Settlement. Core operations include funding the restoration and documentation of shtetl cemeteries, acquiring artifacts for display in the various museums of Europe, financially supporting records collection and preservation, and funding original research into various aspects of life in the Pale of Settlement.
The project was made possible thanks to the support of Taube Philanthropies, the William K. Bowes, Jr. Foundation, and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland.
